JESSE EDMOND
He has written and created
throughout his whole existence
but only since a little more than
a decade complete songs that
approximate ratings like ‘fine’ or
'finished'. It’s maybe since three
years that he brings this material
to the stage, without a band or
with guest musicians, to live up
to one of his greatest passions.
Not that he has ever performed
before. Late eighties, he began to
make some name for himself as a
guitarist / background vocalist in
Phoney Boloney. More recent he
was the singer of the band
Broomstick Buddha. The break-up
with that band was the start of
turning his back on the 'democratic
band principle' for a while and move
on as a 'solo'-musician. Solely by
himself or with accompanists (less
solo already).
Whenever Jesse performs on stage
alone, he produces his own
particular sound with his typical
voice and by the way he plays
guitar. His songs might reveal his
musical inspirators: from Prince,
P-funk & Hendrix to The Beatles,
Bowie & Marley. In the end he can
be inspired by almost anything.
Especially when he gets the chance
to experiment in the studio or freak
out electronic on stage. He doesn’t
fear conventions & tradions but
most of the time he tries pursueing
renewal & eclecism, with perhaps
his favorite genres: funk, soul &
jazzrock as a leading thread running
through his productions.
